FAQs
What is Baptism?
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward faith, an immersion symbolic of washing away of the old self, and a celebration of rebirth in Christ. In accordance with the teachings of Jesus and the practice observed in the New Testament, baptism is a public declaration that you are following Jesus Christ and committing to live out your faith authentically and wholeheartedly.
Who should be Baptised?
Baptism is for anyone who has made a personal decision to trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. If you understand and accept the gospel—that Jesus died for your sins, was buried, rose on the third day, and now offers salvation to all who repent and believe—then you are ready to be baptised.
What happens at a Baptism?
At Gateway, baptisms are a time of joy and celebration so be sure to invite your friends and family. The pastor will deliver a short sermon on the significance of being Baptised. Baptism candidates stand on stage and are introduced to the congregation, before being asked to confess their faith. Candidates are then baptised by full immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
